Ferrellgas LP in Partnership with ThyssenKrupp Elevator

  • ThyssenKrupp Elevator First US Elevator Company to Demonstrate Indoor Air Quality Leadership

UL Environment – part of UL (Underwriters Laboratories) that globally certifies and rates products for fire, safety, and hazardous impacts, has tested the chemical emissions of ThyssenKrupp Elevator’s TKAP (applied panel), TKLP (laminate plastic) and TKS (steel shell) cabs and confirmed that they all comply with the stringent indoor air quality standard established by the California Department of Health commonly referred to as California’s Section 01350 (CA 01350). ThyssenKrupp utilized life cycle analysis to help identify cab components and any associated coatings or adhesive which could contribute to diminished indoor air quality. With that insight and appropriate modifications the company submitted the complete line of standard cabs to UL for testing and validation.

CA 01350 is a testing method commonly referenced within green building rating systems, like LEED, to evaluate the volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions emulating off building interiors and associated products. The testing was conducted by placing elevator cabs in testing chambers after which a comprehensive audit was performed to test compliance. The conclusive and independent third-party validation is another concrete step in furthering ThyssenKrupp Elevator’s commitment to being a green elevator provider. ThyssenKrupp Elevator is currently the only elevator company in North America to have a third party validated cab line.
